Red wine | Piedmont, Italy
Let me introduce you to a captivating wine experience with the Az. Agr. Patrizia Nebbiolo d'Alba. Hailing from the esteemed Piedmont region of Italy, this red wine is a true expression of the Nebbiolo grape, known for its complexity and elegance. This Nebbiolo d'Alba is carefully crafted to capture the essence of its terroir. It boasts a beautiful ruby-red hue that hints at the treasures within. On the nose, you'll be greeted by a symphony of aromas, including ripe red cherries, dried cranberries, and a touch of floral notes like rose petals. Delicate earthy undertones add depth and complexity to the bouquet, creating an enticing sensory experience.
On the palate, this wine is dry and well-balanced, with a refreshing acidity that invigorates the senses. The flavors mirror the aromas, with vibrant red fruit taking center stage, complemented by subtle hints of spice and a lingering earthy finish. The tannins are refined and well-integrated, providing structure and a smooth texture that makes it incredibly enjoyable to drink. The Azienda Agricola Patrizia is situated in the hills of Alba, in the heart of the Langhe area, Piedmont. The estate is run by Patrizia Falcetti, who is the fourth generation of a family of winemakers. It is a family-run winery with around 5 ha of vineyards with old vines of excellent quality. The vineyards are located in the area of Diano d’Alba (Sorì Montagrillo), an area well-known for its Dolcetto wines, and in the area of Alba, cultivated with Nebbiolo grapes.
Pair this Nebbiolo d'Alba with a variety of dishes to elevate your dining experience. It's an excellent accompaniment to roasted meats, such as lamb or beef, as well as hearty pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces. The wine's acidity cuts through rich flavors, while its earthy notes complement savory herbs and spices. For a truly authentic pairing, try it with regional specialties like truffle risotto or braised meats. For an exceptional pairing, consider serving it alongside a dish featuring wild mushrooms, as the wine's earthy notes will beautifully complement the fungi's umami flavors. It also pairs well with aged cheeses, such as Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino, as the wine's tannins will harmonize with the cheese's richness.
To fully appreciate the nuances of this wine, serve it slightly chilled, around 16°C. Allow it to breathe for about 15 minutes before serving to unlock its full aromatic potential. This Nebbiolo d'Alba is ready to be enjoyed now, but it can also benefit from a few years of aging, allowing the flavors to further develop and integrate.
Intense red fruit, earthy notes. A bit more tannin than I usually go for, but that finish lingers nicely. Perfect with a truffle risotto!
