Description

Bava Libera is a vibrant and approachable expression of the Barbera d'Asti DOCG, crafted by the esteemed Bava winery, a family estate with six generations of winemaking history in Piedmont. This wine is produced from the younger vines of the Pianoalto di Crena estate, where the unique limestone-rich soils of the Monferrato Astigiano area impart a distinct character. The name 'Libera' reflects its free, fruit-driven style; it is fermented in stainless steel to preserve the pure, primary aromas of the Barbera grape without the influence of oak.

Upon pouring, the wine displays an intense, brilliant ruby red color. The nose is immediately engaging, offering a fragrant bouquet of wild prune, black cherry jam, and a subtle, spicy hint of pepper. On the palate, Libera is dry yet delightfully enveloping; it is celebrated for its 'stunningly soft' texture, achieved through reduced acidity, which makes it particularly accessible and smooth compared to more austere Barbera wines. The experience concludes with a balanced, harmonious, and lingering fruit-forward finish.

This wine is a versatile companion at the dining table, perfectly suited to the traditional cuisine of Piedmont. Its bright, fruit-driven profile makes it an excellent match for pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces, grilled meats, roasted duck, or medium-aged cheeses. To fully appreciate its vibrancy and soft tannins, it is recommended to serve this wine slightly chilled, around 16–18°C. Whether enjoyed on its own for its youthful exuberance or paired with a hearty meal, Bava Libera offers an authentic and high-quality taste of Asti's viticultural excellence, capturing the essence of its classic terroir in every glass.
