Red wine | Ribera del Duero, Valladolid, España
Tinto Pesquera Crianza is an iconic red wine from the Ribera del Duero region of Spain, crafted by Bodegas Alejandro Fernández Tinto Pesquera. This wine is a pure expression of the Tempranillo grape, the dominant varietal of the region, and showcases the unique terroir of Pesquera de Duero in Valladolid.
The wine undergoes careful vinification and aging to achieve its distinctive character. The grapes are meticulously selected, fermented in stainless steel tanks, and then aged for 18 months in American oak barrels. This aging process imparts subtle vanilla and spicy notes to complement the wine's inherent fruitiness.
On the palate, Tinto Pesquera Crianza presents a well-balanced structure with firm tannins and a refreshing acidity. The oak aging adds layers of complexity, contributing to a long and satisfying finish. Its rich flavor profile and elegant structure make it an excellent choice for pairing with a variety of dishes. This Crianza is best enjoyed with roasted lamb, grilled steaks, hearty stews, and aged cheeses. Its robust character and nuanced flavors elevate the dining experience, making it a perfect companion for celebratory meals and special occasions.
The Tinto Pesquera winery, founded by Alejandro Fernández, is celebrated for its commitment to quality and its pioneering role in establishing Ribera del Duero as one of Spain's premier wine regions. Drinking a glass of Tinto Pesquera Crianza is an invitation to experience the rich heritage and exceptional quality that define this renowned Spanish winery.
Solid Ribera del Duero. Oak is present but not overpowering. Good structure. Pairs well with lamb, as they say. A bit too powerful for my taste. 3.5 stars.
