Red wine | Puglia, Italy
Terre di Montelusa Primitivo is a quintessential expression of Puglia, Italy’s sunny 'heel'. Produced by the esteemed Casa Vinicola Botter, this wine is crafted to offer an authentic, approachable taste of Southern Italy. Primitivo, famous globally as Zinfandel, thrives in the warm, breezy climate of the Salento peninsula, where it develops its signature rich, concentrated flavors and velvety texture.
In the glass, this wine presents a beautiful, deep ruby red color with subtle violet reflections. The nose is immediately inviting, filled with a fragrant bouquet of ripe cherries, succulent plums, and a touch of balsamic complexity, often complemented by gentle spicy notes and a hint of oak-driven vanilla. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and remarkably smooth. It masterfully balances rich, ripe dark fruit flavors with a soft, velvety structure, making it an incredibly quaffable experience. The finish is pleasant and enduring, often leaving a delicate, lingering impression of cocoa or chocolate.
This wine is a true 'crowd-pleaser' and an excellent all-rounder for your table. Its friendly, fruit-forward nature makes it the perfect partner for various dishes. Pair it with traditional Puglian cuisine, such as hearty orecchiette with tomato sauce, or enjoy it alongside roasted red meats, grilled lamb, or savory pasta dishes. It is also versatile enough to accompany aged cheeses or simply be enjoyed on its own as a relaxed evening glass. With its superb value for money, Terre di Montelusa Primitivo brings the warmth and sunshine of Southern Italy directly into your home, offering a reliable, delicious, and deeply satisfying drinking experience.
Lovely ruby color. The cherry and plum notes are quite pronounced. I'm learning to identify that balsamic complexity! Very smooth, easy drinking. 3.5 stars.
