Red wine | Piedmont, Italy
Allow me to introduce you to a truly exceptional wine: the 2021 Barolo Rocche di Castelletto from Cascina Chicco. Hailing from the prestigious Barolo region of Piedmont, Italy, this wine is a testament to the artistry and tradition of Italian winemaking.
Cascina Chicco is a family-owned winery with a rich history rooted in the Roero area. Their commitment to quality and passion for the land shines through in every bottle they produce. With vineyards located in some of the most prized locations of Piedmont, Cascina Chicco crafts wines that express the unique terroir of the region.
The Rocche di Castelletto vineyard is renowned for producing Barolo wines with intense aromas and flavors, and the 2021 vintage is no exception. Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, this Barolo is a complex and elegant wine that showcases the best of what Piedmont has to offer. On the nose, you'll be greeted by enticing aromas of dried cherry, rose petals, and a hint of earthy notes. As you take a sip, the wine's full-bodied structure and firm tannins will envelop your palate, leading to a long, lingering finish.
This Barolo is an excellent choice for pairing with hearty dishes that can stand up to its boldness. Consider serving it alongside roasted game, braised meats, or aged cheeses. The wine's acidity and tannins will cut through the richness of the food, creating a harmonious and satisfying culinary experience.
While this Barolo is enjoyable now, it will continue to evolve and develop in the bottle over the next several years. If you choose to cellar it, you'll be rewarded with even more complexity and nuance as the wine matures. Before serving, decant the wine for at least an hour to allow its aromas and flavors to fully express themselves. Serve at around 18°C to fully appreciate its character. This Barolo is not just a wine; it's an experience. It's a journey through the hills of Piedmont, a celebration of Italian winemaking tradition, and a testament to the passion and dedication of the people at Cascina Chicco. Cheers to good taste!
A promising Barolo! Nebbiolo at its finest. Good structure, needs time, but the cherry and rose notes are already singing. Very similar to my favs!
