Red wine | Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux, France
Experience the timeless elegance of Bordeaux with this exquisite Château La Croix Mazeran Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2020. Hailing from one of the most prestigious appellations in the world, this wine embodies the perfect harmony between traditional viticulture and the unique terroir of the Right Bank. Crafted primarily from a classic blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this vintage offers a sophisticated profile that is both approachable now and possesses excellent aging potential for those with patience.
Upon pouring, you are greeted by a deep, enticing cherry-garnet color, signaling the concentration and depth within. The bouquet is a complex tapestry of aromas, leading with ripe red and black fruits, delicately interwoven with nuanced notes of oak, vanilla, and a subtle hint of licorice. On the palate, the wine reveals its true character: full-bodied yet remarkably smooth. The velvety tannins provide a structured backbone, perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity and flavors of succulent plums, blackberries, and rich cocoa. The finish is remarkably long and harmonious, leaving a lingering, satisfying impression of dark fruit and refined spice.
This Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is an exceptional culinary companion. Its robust yet elegant nature makes it the ideal match for classic French gastronomy and hearty, savory dishes. Pair it with roasted rack of lamb, a rich beef bourguignon, or a traditional duck confit to truly elevate the dining experience. It also performs beautifully alongside wild game or a plate of aged, nutty cheeses such as Comté, which complements the earthy undertones of the wine. Whether you are hosting a special dinner or simply wishing to treat yourself to a quintessential Bordeaux experience, this bottle is an invitation to discover the artistry of Saint-Émilion. To fully unlock its potential, we recommend decanting for at least an hour before serving at a cellar temperature of 16-18°C. Treat yourself to the soul of Bordeaux with this outstanding Grand Cru.
Intense! Dark fruit, spice... a bit more structure than I usually go for, but well balanced. Could be a fantastic food wine. Surprisingly enjoyable.
