Red wine | Veneto, Italy
Discover the Gran Bericanto Riserva, a masterful expression of Italian winemaking from the sun-drenched Colli Berici hills in the Veneto region. Produced by the renowned Cielo e Terra winery, this wine is a testament to both tradition and innovation. Crafted as a 'Super-Veneto' blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tai Rosso, it utilizes a sophisticated 'mini-Appassimento' technique where a selection of hand-picked grapes are partially dried. This meticulous process concentrates the sugars and tannins, bestowing the wine with an extraordinary depth, structure, and complexity reminiscent of the finest Amarone.
Upon pouring, you are greeted by an intense, deep ruby-red hue. The nose is immediately captivating, offering a dense, aromatic bouquet of dark forest berries, dried herbs, and a subtle, intriguing hint of tobacco. On the palate, the wine is powerful and full-bodied, striking a perfect balance between its velvety, sweet tannins and a sophisticated mineral edge. Notes of lush blackberry, creamy vanilla, and a sophisticated touch of roasted coffee unfold with every sip, leading to a long, persistent, and harmonious finish.
This Riserva is an ideal companion for the dinner table. Its robust profile makes it a stellar partner for hearty meat dishes such as grilled ribeye, wild game, or rich roasts. It also shines when paired with aged cheeses, where its spicy, dark fruit character can truly complement the complexity of the cheese. Whether you are celebrating a significant milestone or simply looking to elevate your evening, the Gran Bericanto Riserva provides an elegant, memorable experience. We recommend decanting this wine for about 30 minutes before serving at 16-18°C to allow its full range of aromas to breathe and flourish. It is a bold, refined choice for anyone seeking the heart and soul of Venetian viticulture.
Too bold and ripe for my taste. It lacks the elegance of a classic Valpolicella, but it's well-made. Pair this powerhouse with a wild boar ragu; it’s just too heavy for my usual palate.
