Red wine | Chianti Classico, Tuscany, Italy
Antico Lamole is a captivating expression of the high-altitude terroir of Lamole, a historic hamlet within the prestigious Chianti Classico region of Tuscany. Produced by Fattoria di Lamole under the dedicated guidance of the Socci family, this wine is crafted from 100% Sangioveto (the local, traditional clone of Sangiovese). The vineyards are situated on unique, ancient dry-stone terraces at altitudes reaching 500-600 meters above sea level, where sandy-loam soils and cool breezes foster a slow, even ripening process that preserves exquisite freshness and elegance.
In the glass, the 2020 vintage reveals a beautiful, luminous ruby-red color. On the nose, it offers a sophisticated bouquet that gracefully balances deep forest fruits—like wild cherry and blackberry—with subtle notes of leather, Mediterranean herbs, and a whisper of spice. On the palate, the wine is characterized by its remarkable poise; it is dry and well-structured, featuring vibrant, fine-grained tannins and a lively acidity that is typical of high-altitude Sangiovese. The finish is remarkably persistent, leaving a lingering, aromatic impression of fruit and earthy minerality that invites another sip.
This wine is truly a testament to 'heroic viticulture'—a project of respect for the land and the history of the Chianti hills. It is exceptionally food-friendly, making it the perfect partner for authentic Tuscan cuisine. Pair it with rustic, hearty dishes such as pappardelle with wild boar ragù, grilled Bistecca alla Fiorentina, slow-roasted game, or a selection of aged pecorino cheeses. To truly experience its character, we recommend uncorking the bottle about 30 minutes before serving at a temperature of approximately 18°C. This is a wine that bridges tradition and purity, reflecting the soul of the Tuscan landscape.
