Description

The Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a quintessential California red, crafted to offer both elegance and approachable complexity. Sourced from a diverse array of premium California regions—including Napa Valley for structure, Sonoma for spice, and Lodi for lush, fruit-forward textures—this wine is a masterclass in regional blending. Named after the anniversary of Joel and Sarah Gott’s wedding, the '815' has become a staple for those seeking a reliable, high-quality Cabernet that overdelivers for its price point. On the nose, you will find inviting aromas of ripe blackberries, plums, and a hint of sweet cedar, complemented by subtle baking spices. The palate is characterized by its velvety tannins and concentrated dark fruit flavors, leading to a long, textured finish with a touch of mineral depth. Because of its medium-to-full body and balanced acidity, this wine is incredibly versatile. It is a mandatory pairing for classic American comfort food like juicy cheeseburgers or grilled steaks, but it is equally at home alongside barbecue chicken, hearty stews, or even spicy dishes that require a wine with enough structural 'verve' to hold its own. Whether you are looking for an everyday indulgence or an impressive bottle for a casual dinner party, the Joel Gott 815 offers a consistent, satisfying experience that highlights the very best of California viticulture.

Your Notes

Not bad! More black cherry than I prefer, but the vanilla notes are interesting. Smooth, as described. Learning I don't always need the raspberry notes I usually crave. 3.5 stars
