Description

Indulge in the rustic charm of the Morellino di Scansano DOCG from La Querciona, an organic treasure hailing from the sun-kissed hills of Tuscany. This wine is a vibrant expression of the Sangiovese grape, meticulously cultivated and nurtured following biodynamic principles. Imagine the taste of ripe cherries dancing on your palate, intertwined with subtle hints of earthy spice and a whisper of wild herbs. This medium-bodied red wine presents a harmonious balance between fruit-forward notes and savory undertones, making it a versatile companion for your culinary adventures. The wine-making operation takes place at the foot of the medieval village of Scansano, in the heart of the Maremma, and since 2016 it has been managed according to biodynamic principles. It is also certified organic.

Crafted with passion and respect for the land, La Querciona’s Morellino di Scansano is a testament to the rich winemaking heritage of Tuscany. This is not just a wine; it's an experience. The bright acidity and smooth tannins make it incredibly food-friendly. Enjoy it with traditional Tuscan dishes like hearty pasta with wild boar ragu, grilled Florentine steak, or a selection of artisanal cheeses and cured meats. Its lively character also pairs beautifully with Mediterranean cuisine, such as roasted vegetables, grilled fish, or a flavorful pizza. Morellino di Scansano is usually made with at least 85% Sangiovese. It tends to be drier and more fruit-forward than Chianti Classico, another Sangiovese-based wine from Tuscany. The remaining 15% can be made up of other authorized red grapes, such as Ciliegiolo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo Nero. In addition, at least two years of aging is required for all Chianti Classico wines, whereas Morellino di Scansano only requires one year.

Serve this wine slightly chilled at around 16°C (60°F) to enhance its aromatic profile. Allow it a brief moment to breathe in the glass before savoring its complex layers of flavor. With each sip, you'll be transported to the rolling vineyards of Scansano, where the Mediterranean breeze whispers through the vines and the passion for winemaking runs deep. Don't miss the opportunity to experience this authentic taste of Tuscany. It’s more than just a wine, it’s a celebration of nature, tradition, and the simple pleasures of life.
