Red wine | Tuscany, Italy
The Siro Pacenti Pelagrilli Brunello di Montalcino 2020 is a masterpiece of Tuscan winemaking, hailing from the prestigious Montalcino region. Crafted by the renowned Giancarlo Pacenti, this wine is a pure expression of the Sangiovese Grosso grape, sourced from the distinct Pelagrilli vineyard, known for its unique soil composition that imparts a refined complexity to the final bottle. Upon pouring, you are greeted with a sophisticated bouquet of ripe black cherries and dark berries, gracefully interwoven with subtle hints of dried violets, tobacco, and warm spices. On the palate, this wine showcases the perfect balance between power and elegance; it is inherently dry, displaying a full-bodied structure supported by polished, velvety tannins that define its potential for long aging. The finish is remarkably long and persistent, leaving behind an inviting trace of balsamic and earthy undertones. This Brunello is an exceptional companion for refined dining. Its structured character makes it a natural match for hearty Tuscan specialties such as Bistecca alla Fiorentina, slow-cooked wild boar ragù, or aged pecorino cheese. It is a wine that demands respect and appreciation, ideally served slightly below room temperature after decanting for at least an hour to allow its complex aromas to fully unfold. Investing in a bottle of Siro Pacenti is an invitation to experience the pinnacle of Montalcino terroir. Whether you are adding to your cellar for future maturation or planning a special evening, the Pelagrilli offers a profound drinking experience that honors the traditions of Italy's most celebrated red wine region.
Powerful! Dark cherries and spices sing. A bit heavier than my usual, but beautifully balanced. Needs a rich Tuscan dish. Considering it's not my type of wine, it's a treat!
