Description

Allow me to introduce you to a wine that embodies the very spirit of California's Alexander Valley: The Calling Cabernet Sauvignon. This isn't just a wine; it's an experience, a journey into the heart of Sonoma County's renowned terroir. Imagine yourself transported to sun-drenched vineyards, where the vines bask in the perfect balance of warm days and cool nights, a climate that coaxes the very best from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape.

The Calling is a brand that has dedicated itself to producing exceptional wines that speak to the unique character of their appellations. Their Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley is a testament to this dedication. The 2020 vintage, captured beautifully in this bottle, showcases the depth, complexity, and elegance that this region is celebrated for.

As you bring the glass to your nose, you'll be greeted by an intoxicating bouquet of ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherries, intertwined with subtle notes of cedar, vanilla, and a hint of spice. This is a wine that invites you to linger, to explore its intricate layers of aroma.

The first sip is a revelation. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with a velvety texture that caresses the tongue. The flavors mirror the aromas, with concentrated dark fruit taking center stage, complemented by nuances of cocoa, mocha, and a touch of earthy minerality. The tannins are firm yet refined, providing structure and backbone without being aggressive. The finish is long and lingering, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and finesse.

The Calling Cabernet Sauvignon is incredibly versatile when it comes to food pairings. It's a natural partner for grilled or roasted meats, such as a succulent ribeye steak, a tender rack of lamb, or a flavorful venison roast. It also pairs beautifully with hearty vegetarian dishes like mushroom risotto or eggplant parmesan. For a cheese pairing, consider aged cheddar, gouda, or a creamy blue cheese. Whether you're planning a special occasion dinner or simply unwinding after a long day, this wine is sure to elevate the experience.

Why this wine, from this winery, and this region? The Calling's commitment to quality shines through in every bottle. They meticulously source their grapes from select vineyards in Alexander Valley, ensuring that only the finest fruit makes its way into their Cabernet Sauvignon. Your Notes

A bit jammy for my taste, but a solid Paso Robles Cab. The cedar and black cherry notes are there. Good with grilled steak.
