Description

Allow me to introduce you to a true masterpiece from the heart of Veneto, Italy: the Allegrini La Poja. This isn't just a bottle of wine; it's an experience, a journey through the rich terroir and passionate winemaking that define the Allegrini family. The La Poja is a monovitigno, meaning it's crafted entirely from the Corvina Veronese grape. This single-varietal expression showcases the unique character and potential of this indigenous grape, elevated to its highest form.

The 2015 vintage, as seen in the picture, is a testament to the outstanding growing conditions of that year. The wine presents a deep ruby color, hinting at the concentration and complexity within. On the nose, prepare to be captivated by an intoxicating bouquet of ripe cherries, plum, and subtle hints of spice. These aromas intertwine with delicate floral notes, creating a symphony of scents that evolve with each swirl of the glass. On the palate, the La Poja is a full-bodied and powerful wine, yet remarkably elegant and balanced. The velvety tannins provide a firm structure, while the vibrant acidity keeps the wine fresh and lively. The flavors of dark fruit persist, complemented by nuances of chocolate, tobacco, and a touch of earthiness, all leading to a long, satisfying finish. Allegrini is a historic winery deeply rooted in the Valpolicella Classica area. For six generations, the Allegrini family has dedicated itself to producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. Their commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability has made them one of the most respected and recognized names in Italian winemaking. This wine pairs beautifully with rich, flavorful dishes that can stand up to its intensity. Consider grilled or roasted red meats, game dishes like venison or wild boar, or hearty pasta dishes with mushroom or truffle sauces. Aged cheeses, such as Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino, also make excellent accompaniments. Do not only drink this wine. Savor it.

Your Notes

Intense! Lots of dark fruit and spice. Corvina shining through. A bit pricey, but seems worth a try for a special occasion. Similar to a super-Venetian.
