Description

Ah, you have excellent taste! Let me introduce you to the Argentiera Poggio Ai Ginepri Bolgheri, a wine that truly embodies the spirit and terroir of Tuscany. Coming from the prestigious Bolgheri region, this red blend is a testament to the Super Tuscan movement, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. Argentiera, the winery, is a modern estate steeped in history, drawing its name from the silver mines that once dotted the area. The Poggio Ai Ginepri is their expression of everyday elegance, offering the approachability of Bolgheri at a great price.

On the palate, this wine is a symphony of flavors. The ripe black currants and plum notes from Cabernet Sauvignon are beautifully balanced by the lush red cherry character from Merlot, while Cabernet Franc adds a touch of herbaceousness and structure. Notes of tobacco, spice, and earthy undertones add complexity. Its tannins are silky smooth, and its acidity is perfectly poised, making it a truly delightful drinking experience.

This Bolgheri is incredibly versatile when it comes to food pairings. Its robust structure and complex flavors make it an ideal companion for grilled meats such as Fiorentina steak, roasted lamb, or hearty pasta dishes like pappardelle with wild boar ragu. Its elegance also allows it to pair well with aged cheeses. Serve it at around 18 degrees Celsius, and decant it for at least 30 minutes to allow its aromas to fully develop. This is a bottle to be savored, to be shared, and to be remembered. Enjoy!

Your Notes

Not bad, not bad at all. A bit heavy on the fruit for my liking, but well-structured. Good length. Could do with a bit more earthiness.
