Description

From the very beginning of Kaiken in 2002, our singular aim has been to produce the best reflection of Mendoza's finest terroir. Today, we are proud to produce Kaiken Mai, a superb new wine and the result of a perfect collaboration between climate, soil and the artistic skills of Winemaker Aurelio Montes. This wine, 100% Malbec, aged for 18 months in new French oak, has lush violet aromas with hints of black fruit, dry stone fruit and mocha chocolate on the nose. On the palate, it is robust yet elegant - a distinctively luscious wine that offers the roundness, silkiness and strength of a great Malbec. A wine which can be enjoyed now as well as cellared for many years.

Kaiken Mai Malbec offers a deep, concentrated flavor profile with notes of ripe black fruits such as blackberry and plum, complemented by hints of violet and mocha. Its aging in French oak adds layers of complexity with subtle vanilla and spice notes. The wine has a rich, velvety texture with well-integrated tannins, leading to a long and satisfying finish.

Kaiken is the name of a wild goose that crosses the Andes mountains between Chile and Argentina. Aurelio Montes has done the same to make this wine, Kaikens have existed since very old times, when the native Pehuenche Indians were the only inhabitants in Mendoza. They are an integral part of the land and our culture today. For this, we pay tribute by using their language to name the FIRST of our icon wines from Argentina. MAI means "FIRST" in Pehuenche dialect.

Kaiken Mai Malbec is a versatile wine that pairs well with a variety of dishes. Its bold flavors and smooth tannins make it an excellent choice for grilled meats, such as steak or lamb. It also complements hearty pasta dishes with rich tomato-based sauces or mushroom ragu. For cheese pairings, consider aged cheddar, gouda, or blue cheese. Other suggested pairings include roasted vegetables, game meats, or dishes with a touch of spice. I would also recommend it to be paired with grilled skirt steak with chimichurri, Argentinian empanadas, and dark chocolate desserts.
