White wine | Baden, Germany
This Blanc de Noirs from the renowned Markgräflich Badisches Weinhaus is a testament to the versatility of the Spätburgunder grape. By gently pressing dark Pinot Noir grapes, the winemakers have crafted a white wine that captures the elegance and freshness of a white variety while retaining the subtle power and structural depth inherent to the red Pinot Noir. Hailing from the sun-drenched region of Baden, this wine offers a sophisticated profile characterized by vibrant notes of crisp pear and zesty citrus fruits. On the palate, it is beautifully dry and harmonious, balancing a lively, fine acidity with a smooth, lingering finish that leaves a refreshing impression.
Its approachable yet refined character makes it a superb choice for a variety of culinary pairings. This wine shines when served as a sophisticated aperitif, setting a bright tone for any gathering. Its food-friendly nature makes it an excellent companion for light, seasonal dishes such as summer salads accented with fresh fruit, delicate poultry preparations, or fresh seafood like grilled river fish or shellfish. It also pairs wonderfully with mild goat cheeses or creamy pasta dishes, where its acidity can provide a pleasant counterpoint.
Choosing this wine means embracing a tradition that dates back over 900 years. The Markgräflich Badisches Weinhaus combines this long-standing heritage with modern precision to create wines that are both authentic and accessible. Whether you are hosting a summer garden party or looking for the perfect accompaniment to a light weekday dinner, this Blanc de Noirs brings a touch of Baden’s storied winemaking excellence to your glass. Enjoy its refreshing clarity and the subtle complexity that only a well-crafted Blanc de Noirs can provide.
Interesting! Pear and citrus, quite dry. I'm still learning to appreciate whites, but I can see this with grilled fish. A bit too acidic for my taste though.
