Red wine | Mendoza, Argentina
Imagine the vast, sun-drenched vineyards of Mendoza, Argentina, cradled in the foothills of the Andes. This is the birthplace of Cordero con Piel de Lobo Malbec, a wine that embodies the bold spirit and untamed beauty of its origin. Crafted by Mosquita Muerta Wines, a winery known for its innovative blends and respect for the land, this Malbec is more than just a wine; it's an experience.
The name itself, “Lamb in Wolf’s Clothing,” hints at the wine’s intriguing character. It's a Malbec that surprises, offering a complex yet approachable profile. The grapes are carefully selected from high-altitude vineyards, where the intense sunlight and cool nights contribute to their exceptional concentration and vibrant flavors.
On the nose, Cordero con Piel de Lobo Malbec unfolds with a symphony of aromas. Ripe blackberry and plum mingle with subtle hints of violet and vanilla, derived from careful oak aging. As you take your first sip, you'll be greeted by a rich, full-bodied texture, supported by smooth tannins that caress the palate. The flavors echo the aromas, with a core of dark fruit complemented by notes of spice and a touch of mocha. The finish is long and lingering, leaving you with a pleasant warmth and a desire for another glass.
This Malbec is a versatile companion for a variety of dishes. Its boldness makes it an excellent match for grilled meats, such as a juicy Argentine steak or a flavorful lamb chop. It also pairs beautifully with hearty pasta dishes, rich stews, and aged cheeses. For a more casual pairing, try it with a gourmet burger or a selection of charcuterie.
But beyond its taste and versatility, Cordero con Piel de Lobo Malbec tells a story of Mendoza's terroir, the passion of its winemakers, and the unique character of the Malbec grape. It’s a wine that invites you to explore, to discover, and to savor the moment. So uncork a bottle, gather with friends and family, and let the “Lamb in Wolf’s Clothing” transport you to the heart of Argentina. This wine deserves to rest at least 15 minutes after opening, so the flavour can evolve better.
Dark fruit forward! Blackberry and plum are there, like the description says. Also got a hint of mocha. Tannins are smooth, a little too full-bodied for my usual taste. 30 min open!
